Occupations in Demand
“Barbara, the kids and I remain grateful for the swell time we had in Sydney when we visited after we go tour visas. Can’t imagine how we’ve all grown so close over such a short while. Really glad to be soon living in Australia tending flower bulbs in the backyard. Sure beats swimming in the waters of mur-ky US politics. See ya soon!

“Greeting from Osaka! Suki and I are most pleased to receive your letter welcoming us to Sydney after our visa is now approved! Thank you and god bless you Vivian-san and your wife the Cleona. We must ring our family up in Australia so they can be widely exposed in the nature and grow like full people. I have brought you some Japanese wine and Suki will teach your honourable wife how to make Susi and Sashimi. We Japanese will richen your live with our culture as you will teach us how to make the stakes and prawns on the barbeque! ”
Warm regard Vivian-san and I will see you soon.
Masaki Yoko,
Osaka, Japan

Occupations in Demand
Do You Have An Occupation in Demand?

• What is the Migration Occupations in Demand List (MODL)?

Migration Occupation on Demand List is a list set out by the department of Immigration in Australia, This list is prepared accroding to the job opportunities available and the demand for skilled people in these occupations at that time, this list is arrived at mainly due to the high demand in these occupations and the severe shortage of people with these occupations in Australia. This list demonstrates the high employability factor for people skilled in these occupations, due to this reason additional points are allotted to these occupations at the time of application.
• How often does the MODL change?
The MODL usually changes twice a year.
• How are occupation points awarded on the points test? What is a 'suitable Australian employer'?
MODL occupation applicants receive additional points due to their occupation being on the MODL, these are over and above the points alloted for skills, experience, sponsorship ( relatives in Australia), language and age.
An employer who meets certain conditions and willing to offer a letter of employment for the applicant whose occupation is on MODL is a suitable employer.
• Priority processing
Occupations on MODL receive priority processing as per the Immigration Ministers Directive.
